Donna Cohen and her writer husband Brian Alan Lane

It all began in art class at elementary school in Queens, NY. Donna loved her time in Mrs. Stiles art class splashing paint on paper. It was a special time and a safe place where she could freely express her inner feelings unedited.

In high school Donna was able to major in art and took classes at the Arts Students League and Rhode Island School of Design to build a portfolio for entrance to art school. She graduated from the School of Visual and Preforming Arts at Syracuse University with a BFA.

After early-career exhibitions of abstract expressionism in a range of drawn, brushed, etched, and carved materials, Donna continued to paint while she raised a family and enjoyed a 30 year ahead-of-the-state-of-the-art professional life as a Digital Media Entertainment Designer, Innovator, Producer, Studio Executive, and Consultant, delivering many firsts to the tech and entertainment industries.

After meeting the love of her life in 2011 Donna began the Wetworks series. She invented a process of painting with watercolors and sculpting metallic acrylic paint in miniature and photographing the pictures with a macro lens. She often compared the process to building a ship in a bottle.

Expanding her reach as an artist Donna completed a year long project of illustrating the book "A TINY TALE". The 62 full page color images are an example of her depth and facility as an artist, each image exudes love and intense emotion. The dynamic, diverse, and colorful images amplify the text in a wonderful and intensely expressive way.

She was able to live the dream she visualized in art school, to live in the country and spend her days painting, when she moved with her husband to the Hood Canal in Washington State .

On the teaching side, Donna notably created and ran the Computer Graphics Program at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco and was one of the founders of the student art competition for Siggraph's Art Show.

Donna's Paintings have been in public exhibitions, galleries and are in several private collections.  Donna is available for commission work and her illustrations are for sale in limited signed editions.

Donna paints in her studio on the Hood Canal with her husband, four dogs and a lot of very tall trees.

Donna continues to use her design skills in the tech space and has a digital media marketing consultancy.

All images from book are for sale (fine art hi-res archival prints). Framed or Unframed.

"A Tiny Tale" is a transformative fable of robust romance and lifeway ponderings, told in quotable verse, soul-mirror illustrations, and read-along audio complements as the Little Thatched Man and She and several animal acquaintances find a forested path to love, self-love and true love, in that order. There is magic in our world (and romance too, and happiness) but they decline to enter unbidden. In this lushly illustrated fable for adults, the Little Thatch Man and his silly owls, scolding crickets, snoring snakes, and a rose petal clock (that knows the time but never tells), will all show you the way to unwrap your dreams and let them in.
